Installation Day

I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend my Friday afternoon than yarn bombing the campus with other yarnies!  What a blast we had!  I packed my bombing kit (scissors, yarn needle, clips, crochet hook-no idea what would be needed) and headed out around 1pm.  Dressing all of the sculptures, wrapping vines, creating fig leaf coverings and wrapping the bike rack was fun and exhausting (I crawled home around 9pm)!

Here are a few pictures from the Facebook page and media coverage!

There are SOOO many more pieces, so just go!  The installation should be up for a week, but of course pieces will most likely wander off.  Come out for the big gala tonight at 7pm to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Ulrich Art Museum!  I’ve got my dress and I’m ready to party!  More photos and updates coming soon.

I’m heading off to the campus early this morning to make sure the overnight rain didn’t mess anything up.  This post doesn’t capture the feeling on campus, go!

Yarn Graffiti is AWESOME!

Yarn Bombing Update!

Good morning knitters!

Several of us met on the WSU campus last evening to do a final walk through for the art installation (aka. Yarn Bombing) that is taking place.  You still have time to participate if you want to be a part of this AWESOME event!

Grafly Sculpture Garden Update:

We have knitted items for each bust in the sculpture garden except for the Mother & Child (Jan & a few women have agreed to conquer this one).  We still need more vines, leaves, flowers and granny/mitered squares, so check out our Ravelry Group page for full details.

Please bring completed items to the Guild meeting on Tuesday or you can help with installation on Friday afternoon (9/14).  Installation is scheduled to be complete by Friday at 6pm and you (& family/friends) are welcome to join us on campus for a picnic to celebrate the project & see the final results!

*If you are knitting for the project, please let us know your name so that you can be included in the credits and receive a free invitation to the Gala on Saturday, Sept 15th!

Happy Yarn Bombing!!  I’m attacking the bike rack and creating hanging globes of yarn to hang from the trees.  Wait until you see the campus!

PS- Receive an extra Door Prize raffle ticket for each completed item you bring!  We have a packed agenda that includes Medals for the Ravellenics Games, the Secret Sock Exchange and a guest speaker!  Grab a friend and your knitting and join us!  *Check out our Ravelry page for carpool details.
