April’s meeting was fantastic! It was a full house at our new location again with several new guests joining us. Thank you for joining us and we missed those that were unable to make it! Sorry for the delay in this post.
CKKG Board Elections: It’s that time of year again! Our 6 person Board oversees the planning of meetings, membership, and trips. If you are interested in any of the open positions, please let us know. The following positions are open for nominations:
- Vice Chair (two year term)
- At-Large Membership (one year term)
- At-Large Education (one year term)
We will discuss these position next week at our meeting and a Ballot will be sent electronically to all CKKG members following the May meeting. Board members typically volunteer 3-5 hours each month. Board meetings are held via phone. Let us know if you have questions!
CKKG Membership update: We have a Louet Felting Kit to give away to one lucky CKKG member. One member will be randomly selected and announced at the May meeting. You do not have to be present to win!
Program: Plant Fibers and Summer-Friendly Patterns
Summer is just around the corner. We reviewed the Plant Fiber section of the Fiber Chart and discussed the unique properties many of these fibers produce. Many yarn manufactures produce yarns with blended fibers to help balance some of these unique qualities. The group searched Ravlery for some summer favorites. See our Ravelry Group page for more discussion & pattern ideas.
Kim is offering her Farmer’s Market bag pattern for FREE download until May 30th! Use coupon code: CKKG
The original bag is knit out of hemp yarn, but other plant fiber yarns will work great as well.
Mini-Skeins for the Sock Yarn Blanket KAL – We will be doing a huge swap at this meeting! Please bring as many mini-skeins to swap as possible! Our new selection process works nice & gives everyone more selection.
We are planning a fun meeting for next Tuesday, May 12th! Mark your calendars.
