Hello knitters! Here is the recap of our meeting this week. It was great catching up with everyone and taking a break from life’s never-ending errands! I’m always a bit stressed preparing for each meeting and making sure we have everything ready to go, that I have to convince myself it’s worth the drive to Newton. [I probably shouldn’t be sharing this] But, as soon as knitters start pouring through the doors, I find all my stress immediately washed away. Every drive home I’m smiling ear-to-ear, thankful for the wonderful people who make up our guild. I’m always refreshed. I hope the guild has the same affect on you…if there is anything we can do to make your experience more exciting/enjoyable, please let us know! It’s YOUR guild. 🙂 Kim
Show & Tell: This is always my favorite part of every meeting. Check out all of the awesome projects!
Exploring Heel Shapes & Ravelry:
Janice found us a wonderful handout from Knit Picks that explains (visually & text) the difference between 5 popular sock heel shapes to help you find a perfect fit for your next pair of socks. It also has 2 toe shapes as well.
The group also spent time discussing the new Fish Lips Kiss heel construction. The pattern is $1 on Ravelry and guides you through a toe-up or cuff-down construction! Dee and several others said it is the best heel they’ve ever knit!
Ravelry – the group explored several new features in Ravelry. Seems like they are making updates everyday to improve your Ravelry-experience (both mobile & computer). Ravelry now tracks the patterns that you view, so if you’re like me and run through 259 sock patterns looking for your next project and then forget which one you were interested…you can easily see all of your latest views. It also tracks “helpful” projects from other knitters on your Project page.
Harvey County Fair update:
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Knitting/Crochet table during the fair. Overall the entries were down in number…especially the knitting. If you have projects that you don’t give-away, you might consider entering them for free. You just might be the next Grand Champion!
CKKG Board Elections:
Our new slate of volunteers was unanimously voted in for 2014-2015! Please welcome our new Board Members:
