December Holiday Party

Hello knitters!  We had such fun at our Holiday Party!  Hope you are staying warm!  Thanks to everyone who came out and brought a yummy treat…I’m so thankful that knitters tend to be great in the kitchen as well!  It was fun meeting a few new people (Welcome!), a new member and several returning friends.

Show & Tell: There were tons of awesome projects…unfortunatley, I was having so much fun that I didn’t get very good photos of all of the projects.  Here are a few photos that I did snap before I was distracted.  Sorry!

Pom Poms, Candy Cane Ponies & Beaded Stitch Markers

We had 2 stations set up where folks could wander over and make a set of beaded stitch markers for themselves or to give as a gift and candy cane ponies & reindeer.  In addition, Kim shared a cute pom-pom tutorial she found online.  You can make flowers, polka dots, animals and letters!  Here are the links to the tutorials:

These work great in acrylic yarns, especially because you can get so many colors.  These are super cute, make great cat toys and are addictive…so beware!

Toys: Thank you so much for the donated toys that several of you knit & crocheted.  Everyone enjoyed this charity project so much that we decided to extend this one year round.  Kim is checking with local law enforcement agencies and charities to find homes for these adorable stuffed animals/toys.  If you have a connection, please email us!  Shara donated the adorable “sleepy giraffe”, Anne donated twin monsters, Lisa donated a crocheted hedgehog and Janice created a cute elf.  Thanks ladies, I know these will make somebody very happy!

Secret Santa Fiber Exchange:  Everyone had so much fun bringing in a wrapped gift to exchange!  It was fun to unwrap your gift and find a lovely skein (or two) of yarn…and of course several knitters just couldn’t resist the urge to toss in a few extra goodies.  I received my first yarn bra!  I’m so excited to try it.

Special thanks to everyone for making this such a fun evening of laughter and treats to share with knitting friends!  Looking forward to 2014!
