Knitting weather has finally arrived! Here is the November meeting recap (thanks for being patient and not poking me with your knitting needles). I know several members were unable to join us due to busy schedules this month…we missed you!!
First, thanks to everyone for making our space work. We were a bit more cramped than usual (due to a different location & lots of knitters), the December meeting will be back in our usual spot, the Harvey County Courthouse. Welcome to our 4 new members and to all of the guests that joined us!
Show & Tell: You all know that this is ALWAYS my favorite part of every meeting! Check out the slideshow. Everyone displayed their projects during break and I snapped a few photos (sorry, a few project photos didn’t turnout so I don’t have all of them).
Wrap It Up! KAL Kick-Off:
We were so excited to see how many guild members wanted to participate in this KAL! We have over 20 members participating. At the meeting, everyone brought and selected their yarn for the KAL. It was fun seeing the variety of yarns…I love the diversity of our guild! Super chunky to lace-weight and every color possible.
For this KAL, you will know who you are knitting for and will be able to stalk their Ravelry page for pattern ideas. This KAL will focus on cowls, scarves, shawlettes, etc. Please check out our Ravelry page for questions/pattern ideas and more. There is nothing like receiving a handknit item (I’m only used to giving them)! I can’t wait to see the finished gifts in January!!
If you have ideas for future Knit-A-Longs, please let us know!!
Gift Pattern Ideas
After kicking off the KAL and with the holidays coming up fast, we took the rest of the meeting to look at fun, quick patterns that make great gifts anytime of the year. Here are a few of them…there were so many I lost track of writing them down:
Vancouver Fog (wrist warmers)
Short Rows online Craftsy Class (free)- Pat found this awesome tutorial for 4 types of short rows
PS- If you went on the Central KS Yarn Hop this year, please take a minute to fill out their survey for future hops!
See you next month for the November Guild meeting, Tuesday November 13th from 6-8pm – Location To Be Announced (we’ll email you an invitation next week). Since holiday knitting is gearing up, we’ll have more of a party with some dedicated knitting time.
Happy knitting,
Kim
PS – Please don’t be offended if you didn’t hear about us prior to this guild meeting. Grab a friend and come check us out! Find us on Ravelry and Facebook as Central KS Knitters Guild.
