First of all, thanks to everyone who joined us for the February Meeting! We had a great time getting together. I look forward each month to seeing everyone and all of the awesome projects! Now that I’m settled back in Wichita, I need to get involved in some local knit nights. I miss my Newton gals! I’m continuing to update the local groups on the blog, so check out the listing and try one out! Also, please let us know if you have a group that you would like to post! Happy Knitting!

Show & Tell: You all know that this is ALWAYS my favorite part of every meeting! I need to start updating my Ravelry Favorites immediately following the meetings, so I don’t forget about all the awesome patterns. Unfortunately, we forgot to take photos…we are easily excited by fiber and I’m going to blame it on Janice for whipping out multiple skeins of Wollmeise without warning! I can tell you that there were socks, scarves, hats (many), sweaters…oh my! Check out our Ravelry Group page to see what’s on and off our needles. Sorry! Fiber warnings please!
CKKG Announcements & Board Business:
We are still working on the details of a summer trip along with smaller events, knit-a-longs, possbily a read-a-long and more! If you have ANY interest in helping organize any of these please let us know. Sorry things are moving a bit slower than I hoped; I can be a little impatient. 🙂
The CKKG Board retreat was held in January to discuss all aspects of the Guild and how we can improve each area to meet the desires of our members. Thank you for all of the suggestions and input! Feel free to keep giving us ideas!
Kim will provide a full report of the retreat at the March meeting, but there were a few issues that we felt needed to be brought to the entire membership for consideration.
Board structure: Currently, the CKKG Board consists of 6 members (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Education Chair and the Membership Chair). So far, this structure is working well. But, we felt that with the size of our membership only being around 30 people, developing structured committees was not a huge need at this time and that as projects arise, people who are interested can simply volunteer. So, we felt that the titles of the 2 positions needed to be changed to At-Large Member(s).
Secondly, we felt that staggering the terms of the Board Members will help provide more stability, so that we are not electing every position at the same time! Yikes! We discussed all of the possibilities at the guild meeting on Tuesday and there were a TON of ideas! Many that the Board had not thought of. There was also the suggestion of reducing the number of members to 5 to make it an odd number for voting purposes.
I’m sorry that I cant provide a complete run-down of the discussion here (this post is already HUGE), but we are working on condensing the ideas down so that the members can discuss and vote on them at the next meeting. The draft ideas will be posted with the agenda a week prior to the meeting! Sorry for the delay, coming next week!
Educational Program: Moebius Knitting
Dee introduced many of us to this interesting technique! For those that haven’t tried moebius knitting, check out some sample projects that guild members are considering for projects: (all of these are available on Ravelry – many are free)

Tips:
- Use a stitch marker. Definitely grab one before you get started (or as many as the pattern calls for – it’s worth the extra effort).
- Go to a quiet place to watch the video. It’s not too hard, just a bit awkward for the cast on and 1st row.
- Just give it a try or 2…ok maybe 3 times. 🙂
